I received some really helpful feedback from an interview for my “dream job” that I didn’t get this week.
Truth is if it was my dream job I would have got it right? ๐๐ฉ
Never one to be deterred as you know by now… ๐- I’ve decided to keep plugging on building my own “job”. Utilising my freelance experience. (10years this year) to connect to others out there who want to use their creativity more and grow in confidence!
Yesterday I introduced a concept on my Instagram I came up with earlier this year whilst chilling at the spa! I just wrote it in my notebook and held onto it.
It’s called “White Space” or because Instagram has thousands of hashtags and I wanted a unique one #_white_space.
I’ve decided to invite my own team of people in to work with me on a concept I really believe in.
I have a gratitude wall planner above our office desk where I note down brilliant things that happen at work. This year it has;
- Being invited to work with National Trust on Holy Island
- Being invited to do a CPD seminar at Tate Modern
- Being invited to work with one of my best friends in Edinburgh.
I find it a fab way to stay connected to all things positive. So when I found out I didn’t get the job, nearly 5days after the interview ๐ฎ๐ I was so so sad. I actually didn’t really agree with the feedback but could see I hadn’t “sold” that part of my skill set in.
I am currently managing four artists on one project, two on another and working alongside lots of very different personality types in my other freelance projects. I’m currently developing 19 young people aged 16+ to increase their leadership skills and connection to the power of craft and contemporary art across THREE Arts projects.
I’ve managed a member of staff and invested heavily in their development in the past. I really believe everyone has the capacity to be creative, organisation and productive and that’s what I teach my coaching clients – everyone just needs a different way to unlock their way to do these things.
But the person who got the job had “more team management experience”. And maybe I didn’t say these thing so clearly at interview. Or maybe the other person is a better fit? Either way we are where we are!

So back to the title of the post, how about I create my own team people who are looking to share creativity, flashes of inspiration, magic and ideas and we see what happens. I want to do this under my own company ” Creatively Conscious” – be true to my work ethics and values and have a tonne of fun in the process!
Maybe we can work together, maybe you could be in my team?! Message me and we’ll chat and I’ll add you to the list and in return I might just get some confidence back! โจ๐โจ
